Shipping Times & Operational Hours

Please review our general shipping guidelines for regular shipments.

Our Florida warehouse is open 6:30am-3:30pm Monday through Friday to receive deliveries.  Extended receiving hours can be provided with notice.

Our Nassau office is open 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.

Please see a list of 2021 Non-Operational Dates.

Perishable and Urgent Shipments

For items to be considered for same day delivery, they must be received no later than 8:30 AM.  If shipping through UPS or FedEx, you must choose the Early AM delivery for it to be received on time.

Perishables and urgent orders must be received by 8:30 AM the morning of the flight and will be prioritized, however, we require to be notified of weight and dimensions by 3pm the day prior.  For Monday shipments, notice must be received by 3pm on Friday.

Please note that Bahamas Freight Logistics is not responsible for the spoilage of items not received by the 8:30 am cut off time, as we do not have storage for perishables. We have the right to refuse shipments that come later unless other transportation or storage can be scheduled in a timely manner.

Space and Weight Limitations

Due to space limitations of the aircraft, special arrangements and notice are required for orders or items exceeding any of the following measurements:

  • Weight of 200 pounds
  • Height and width of 45”x45” (door measures 45”x45” so both dimensions cannot exceed this measurement or item cannot be turned on its side)
  • Length of 10’

If the item exceeds our air freight requirements, it may need to be transported via ocean freight through a third-party. Costs incurred for re-delivery to the port will be forwarded on to the customer unless other arrangements have been made.

Special Regulations and Additional Fees

Insurance

Effective January 2021, BFL has implemented a new insurance policy for Airway Bills valued over $500. While customers have the option to opt out of the policy (meaning they will be responsible for any damage to or loss of their goods), it is strongly recommended that customers opt-in to the BFL insurance program.

U.S. Filing Requirement for Export

Bahamas Freight Logistics will file a Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED) on your behalf for each item on an Airway Bill that is valued over $2,500 (not inclusive of taxes, shipping, handling, etc.).  Please email info@bfl.bs for details.

Hazmat Goods

Hazmat charges apply per UN number.  There may be an additional cost based on packaging and documentation needs.  Please email info@bfl.bs for more information.

Holding Fees

Shipments delivered to the Fort Lauderdale warehouse that are ultimately not shipped via BFL (e.g. for customer pickup) will incur a receiving charge based on the shipment’s weight.

Storage Fees

Items stored at the Florida warehouse for longer than 30 days will incur a nominal daily fee based on poundage.

Unclaimed Goods

Items left unclaimed at the Florida warehouse for longer than 90 days will be discarded or sold.

U.S. Pick up Services

Pick up service fees are based on time and distance.  For a pick up quote, please email info@bfl.bs.

Illegal Items

BFL explicitly will not ship any restricted or illegal items including, but not limited to, controlled substances, illegal drugs, firearms & ammunition.  For a more detailed list, please visit the Government of the Bahamas List of Prohibited and Restricted Goods.
